mbiraNYC is a musical group which presents the uplifting and magical music of the mbira (thumb piano) of the Shona people of Zimbabwe. mbiraNYC’s performances are engaging and participatory, with audiences encouraged to clap, sing and dance.
6-6:45pm   Deanna Kirk

 

Deanna Kirk’s voice has been compared to a lark and her rendeition of jazz classic like Fever would make Peggy Lee shudder.Deanna has recorded and co-produced 5 CDs as a signed recording artist with Atlantic and Electra Records.She hosts a regular Wednesday night evening of musical at Nomad, in the East Village. She won the Bistro Award in 2013 (outstanding achievement, jazz vocal).She is also the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts award for vocal excellence.

 

7-7:45 pm   Tony Williams Band

 Tony Williams Band will get you humming, tapping and up on your feet with his classic funk and soul beats. His drumming style makes him a go to for many popular bands.

 Sax virtuoso Arthur Green, brings his signature sounds of funky soul with his Green Machine, mixing a blend foot tapping rhythms and get up and dance beats moves you into action.

6 -6:45pm       Keisha St Joan*

 A seasoned jazz vocalist and a fixture on the New York City scene for decades, she is, at first glance, a garrulous, warm, expansive presence with an easy laugh and an eye, and an ear
her soulfulness on the bandstand, and in her unyielding commitment to her craft. Keisha’s ability to disarm her audiences with charm, wit, and vocal intensity, tends to obscure her more complex qualities.
